INTRODUCTION

About the establishment

In 2008 the association announced its establishment in Szeged, Hungary
The first official attendance of the IAMG Student Chapter Szeged occurred on the XII. Hungarian Geomathematical Symposium and I. Croatian-Hungarian Geomathematical Conference
In 2009 it joined to the International association for mathematical geology (IAMG)
The IAMG – an international, scientific, non-profit association, which is clear of politics – was established in 1968 by the fusion of the International Union of Geological Sciences and the International Statistical Institute.

THE OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDENT CHAPTER SZEGED

To actively take part in the work of the IAMG student chapter
To popularize worldwide the advancement of the mathematical, statistical and informatical knowledge ant its entwinement in geosciences
To promote the appliance of themathematical, stasistical and informatical methodsin geological surveys and technologies by international collaboration.
The publication and discussion of the surveys made by the help of mathematical, stasistical and informatical methods applied in geosciences
To cooperate with other professional associations interested in mathematical and statistical appliances, biological sciences, earth sciences, engineering sciences, environmental sciences and astronomy.
To support the members' professional career, their participation at competitions and their efforts to get a post in their area of specialty.
To facilitate the development of international connections for the members
To organize national and international conferences, courses, lectures and other programs by which the members gain more knowledge
To promote connection-making with other Student Chapters, to organize the national universities, student and other associations and to maintain relations with other institutions and firms
To create collaboration inside the Chapter related to the common projects
To promote the publishing of the members' articles at the website of the Association

fINANCIAL rESOURCES

IAMG places 2000 USD at all SC's disposalannually, which subsequently can change,
Resources gained by common projects,
Financial resources gained by competitions,
Resources offered by the expected sponsors.

Membership

Any university student interested in the topic can be an IAMG member by the way of the SC. Members can be pre-doctoral, doctoral and post-doctoral students.

Fundamental conditions:

Interested in geomathematical, geostatistical and/or geoinformatical sciences, current or planned surveys on these fields (diploma work, project, dissertation, etc.)
Active participation in the common projects and in the establishment and maintenance of the chapter
Payment of the half-year membership fee which is turned to operating and other expenses (prospectively 1000 HUF/year and 5USD)
Participation on facultative trainings (if you are an expert, like a lecturer)
The knowledge of a foreign language (primarily English) is recommended
